Raising 15 turkeys to get ONE Thanksgiving turkey

My favorite holiday of the year? Thanksgiving.

Food. Football. Family. It's got it all! And at the heart of the meal. The turkey.

When we started raising chickens a couple years ago, we moved into meat chickens. After that we thought... "Hey, maybe we could raise our own turkey for Thanksgiving." And last year, WE DID IT! It was a lot of work - time and effort to feed, water, move, and check in on the bird's every day for 4-5 months. Then the butchering. Lifting a 30+ lb bird to process it was not nearly as simple as a chicken had been. But the payoff? Enjoying the fruits of our labor and providing the turkey for our family Thanksgiving meal. And I've gotta say, it was one of the most rewarding things we have ever done.

And this year, we're doing it all over again. But with a little more knowledge to hopefully streamline the process. So in today's video, we talk about getting 15 turkeys, what our plans are for them, and why YOU should raise your own turkey for Thanksgiving.
